Not a load pic but look what I found, my T680 ran into injector problems and was going to be down for a couple of weeks after having similar problems last Dec so I decided to move into a Western Star 57x…and this is the last 13 spd in the fleet! Looking forward to actually picking up loads again :3some:

When I went from my T880 to a 49X I couldn't believe how much quieter it was. Detroit under the hood?

That surprises me, I have never had a Detroit, but I have had a 2-stroke, a Commer (Knocker), a long disappeared British marque, and I could hardly hear myself think. Mind you that was a cabover so the bloody thing was right next to my left ear.

They were well distributed throughout the British Commonwealth, especially Australia, where my old road train boss, Noel Buntine, had one as his first truck. No wonder he later majored on Macks, fortunately by the time I got to know him.:)

There was one other British truck that made its own 2 strokes. That was Foden who started way back in the steam era but sadly later taken over and then destroyed by Paccar. I loved my Fodens, mainly because I never had one of their 'screamers'. :p

Yes they run the Allison transmissions, pretty much every driver I have spoken with likes them…the fleet has transitioned to all 4 axle 49x models now.
