Just finished dinner around 7 last night when the phone rang. Somebody blew up a generator in southern Illinois so they wanted to know if I could get tools and test equipment on site by the morning. Can't wait to get back home and go to bed.

Been a while since I posted pics here. I’m still kicking off steel Mon-Friday, but there’s been some changes. I was driving for Ryder. Company decided it was time to go private fleet. I hired on with them along with most of other drivers. 3 weeks in so far so good, time will tell. Nice being in a KW again, unfortunately it has all the nanny BS in it, but there runners. Small sleepers, but I’m only in it a few nights a week so I can deal with it. One from this week.

Hey question, do any of you own hybrid or lightweight tarps? If so where did you get them from and how do you like them, have they held up well?
Thanks! -
We pour that flour on the ground to track snakes around our sheds down here. What y’all pouring it on ground up there for ?Kyle G., D.Tibbitt, ElmerFudpucker and 8 others Thank this.

Flapping and sharp edges will shred lightweight tarps super fast. Gotta be extra careful with padding and use lots of it.
They hold up just as well as any other piece of equipment if you use them correctly and take time to care for them.
I buy all my tarps from Tri City Canvas in Granite City. Prices are pretty good and they'll custom make whatever you want. I just wish they weren't so far out of the way of my usual routes.
Might be worth it to consider using shock cord instead of bungees on them. The hooks chew through them in about the first 30s. Mine are covered in small holes from the hooks.
Also they are a pain to fix. Hard to use normal patch material. Impossible to fix without a sewing machine if they are parachute material. -
I tried a set of 6' from mytee. Lightweight vinyl on top, parachute on the sides. Vinyl ripped on one for no reason, as mentioned, even crimped bungies make holes easily in the parachute and it's difficult to patch up. Hard to fold in wind, and impossible to keep from ballooning. While they're a little lighter than heavy vinyl, not enough difference to make up for the shortfalls and shorter life.

I only use the parachute material for my 40x40s with 12x12 end flaps. The top and end flaps are thinner vinyl and the side panels are parachute. They still weigh like 200lbs but at least I can roll them around. Let the forklifts pick them up if they need to go far. Best part of those tarps is letting them rot on the top shelf for years at a time.

If this was a spread it’d look half decent even
