Impressive. Were those plates already preformed before he started, or was the whole shebang done in one go from start of that day? Asking because that is some seriously thick plate to be so well formed.

Should've left them a cow to stand on that rock.

Try skimming that across the lake.

It was a flat sheet of 5/16” plate when I got to his shop at 6:00.
I had the measurements written down, the design in my head in my head, and the old pivots carved off.
We cut and bent a narrow test piece for the cross frame plate, then cut everything out and bent it.
I then took all the pieces home and me and the boy welded it up.
It was start to finish (except paint) yesterday.Last edited: May 10, 2025

I did P&D for many years, including areas with $4M vacation homes. In the words of Bill Clinton, "Ah fill yore pine."

it is indeed real
Several of the places I have a contract with sell all old time reclaimed stuff. Stone, windows, doors, all kind of miscellaneous bull #### out of rich people's houses and city and religious projects. -
There's a lot of money in some of that stuff. I've hauled lots of the same type stuff. Millstones, huge timbers from a old textile mill. It's interesting to me seeing these things but I'd never pay what some people do to own it.
