Well, then maybe stop up there in Amarillo, get a steak and mosey down slow and easy. That's how I liked to roll on the holiday runs. See some spots I hadn't, try truck stops/Walmarts, in areas that I wanted to try food near. Make a holiday out of it. :)

I used to be like that.. somewhere along the way ive lost that. Not really sure where but seems about the only enjoyment i get out here anymore is only when im working. Never thought id be like that because i used to be lazy as hell.. but now its the opposite, dont know how to exist if im not working.

You'll get over it, more than 22 years since I retired and for a few years I did miss the road but then someone asked me to deliver a dog somewhere, and another, then someone else, and that has been my life for the past 15 years. Enjoying a 2nd retirement now then a few days ago another popped up. That was an 8 hour return journey across France with a gentle Dobermann boy called Radko yesterday and, in celebration, the drought relented and we drove through the most horrendous storms. At one point I saw before me a massive black cloud, stretching right across the sky and narrowing right down to a narrow point onto the road ahead. I thought I had been transported to Kansas and that this was a twister awaiting me. It wasn't, but the rain and the spray was so bad I could not see the vehicle ahead, just a couple of tiny red dots to follow.
I loved it, after it was over, but am still glad I don't have to do it again tomorrow. upload_2025-8-30_16-47-49.png

That's why I suggested it. I'm the same way, which is why I had to take advantage of those times when I had the time, to mosey, get laundry done, check the rig and trailer at my leisure, make modifications. You're still working, but leisurely. Try to do it again, to keep from burning out. I was running in 1-2 year spurts before something would come up and I'd have to change something, because I was burning fast and furious, which is why I'm suggesting you do the mosey. If hometime is not an option, it's the more sane choice available, to keep you enjoying the OTR life.

And on that note......Happy Labor Day/Holiday to everyone OTR or at home. Enjoy, relax and stay safe. :)
