    I pulled a stainless Great Dane some last winter for the same guy, but it wasn’t available today.

    Is that 1/4" lintel? If so, is that so you don't get burn through welding the goat fence on? Or do you feel that it's necessary for the load holding? Or is that all you had around? :)

    I was thinking plain angle iron might be lighter and sufficient, so am genuinely curious.

    No, it’s not 1/4”. It’s quite a bit thinner than that, probably 1/8” at most. The heavy lintel would make it a real job to pack around all the time.
