I spent my 2nd year in construction on one of those. Not hang over friendly at all. The one I had vibrated like a regular sheetfoot roller.

We used them for mixing in lime powder to dry up wet soil to pass compaction tests. IIRC, we were only allowed 7 or 8% moisture content,.. and we were at 11 or 12%.

My first (real) heavy haul load in over 20 yrs.

CAT 329F. Much heavier machine than I thought it would be. 68k lbs. I included a scale ticket.

Truck took the weight beautifully. Was a dream to drive with weight. Pulled stopped and rode smoothly. Nothing made me feel uncomfortable at all.

Picking up a JD 853M Feller Buncher tomorrow morning. Supposed to be 76k lbs. Flip axle on the ground now. Should be ok weight wise. Trying to make sure I do this right.

Watch your permits very carefully, some states will require all of the axles to be on the ground, needed or not.

Oscar beat me to it. There's quite a few states that will write tickets for an axle not on the ground mine included.

I've got Ia, Il and Ind permits already. Not seeing anything regarding in the provisions pages for each state regarding axles on the ground. Just the usual about length and width regarding need for escort vehicles. How I need to have amber lights. This truck has strobes on top and LED flashers in the grill and built into the rear of the trailer. So thats covered.

My main concern was with the 68k machine how close I was to being 60k on the trailer with 3 axles on the ground. I knew with tomorrows machine at 76k one of the axles was going to be over 60k. Carrier wants me to put as much of the weight and machine towards the rear of the trailer as I can.

I dont think I'm going to have a problem with weight., as I will with height. Machine is supposed to be 11'8 tall. I can adjust both the rear suspension ride height as well as different position to lock in the front height. But concerned I wont be able to get the machine under 13'6.. and correct me if I am wrong,.. but wont Mass have a problem with anything over 13'6?

As I'm sitting right now,.. all axles except my front pusher is on the ground. I have 2 steerable pushers on this truck. Which states would have an issue?

I'm starting from Ia,. heading into Il, Ind, Oh, small part of PA,.. not too worried about PA,.. but then NY into Mass.

Ny and Mass are where I am not too sure. The route I have planned I shouldnt hit any open scales till Ny.

I'm not sure, I don't run out there, never been offered enough money.
I can't answer that either, especially states in the north east. I see it from time to time on permits though, never pay much attention to it as I always need all of them on the ground to carry the weight anyway.

#hurst looks good , If your strobes are built into the bumper on your trailer watch Georgia and Tennessee they will hassle you if they are not visible 360 degrees i ended up taking mine out of the bumper and bought a round strobe and mounted it in top

Truck has 2 strobes on top of the sleeper that are viewable 360 degree. Hopefully they are enough,.. if not I can pick up one of those magnetic battery operated amber blinking lights for the trailer. I need one for my step deck anyway.

And yeah,.. the ones in the trailer are like the brake and turn lights. Has a toggle switch you flip up to turn them on.

Tennessee- the Knoxville scale told us if your overall length is over 75 feet that's when you have to have a stobe with 365 visibility on the trailer
Georgia - they told us if the load block the view of the one on the truck or your over 12 ft wide you have to have one on the trailer .
And yea some of our guys just went and bought two of those foxfire lights and put back there not trying to argue or be difficult just maybe I can save yall the hassle they gave us
