I would have put 6 on the front and 8 on the back, plus the one on the stick/boom.

If you ever need to stand on the brakes, the last thing you want going thru your mind is a 100,000lb machine.

These hubs I've been hauling weigh 72,000, myself and most everyone else is putting on 8, there's one of ATS's special drivers that puts on 5. These are all indirect tie downs.

If your 1/2" chains are only grade 70, then with 8 you only have 45,200lbs of securement. A 107,000lbs machine would need atleast 53,500lbs of securement. I personally don't count the securement on a stick or bucket towards my securement requirement, but that is me.

Yea, I got mixed up, our binders are rated at 16000 and our chains are grade 100 1/2" rated at 150000. I got the two mixed up.

Help me out here,. I'm not questioning or trying to ignore your advise.

I put 4 chains and binders on each of the tracks,.. crossing over to the opposite sides of the trailer and tightened them till I felt like my arms would fall off. Then I took 4 more chains,.. 2 front and 2 aft and hooked them to the holes in brace around the turn table. Cross them to opposite sides as well. Thats a total of 8 chains. Plus the one for the boom.

Where else should I have secured chains on the machine for additional securement? Should I have looped around the turn buckle or around the idlers for the tracks? There were no more obvious chain points open. Would adding more to the tracks be considered reasonable or would it matter?

Personally I cant wait to get back into my truck,.. but in the future there may come a time where I find myself doing this again and I would rather err on the side of safety than risk my wife's or anyone elses safety.

Yeah yeah,.. rub it in why dont you. Add some vinegar or salt while your at it.

I promise you,.. this should be my last weekend doing this.

If the stars align and God can see past my transgressions and forgive my bipolar temperament, I humbly pray my truck will be ready by next week.

You had it chained just fine, this an argument that could go on forever with no clear winner.

    Hurst Thanks this.
