Got loaded.. currently waiting on permits.

Appreciate all the advise. It was pretty simple and straight forward. Like doing the smaller ones.. just doubled up on chains. I've got 9 half inch chains holding it down.

Were you able to weight it yet? How wide is it?

    Yes.

10'10 on width. Got it down to 14'2 on height. The tallest part of machine.. the mirror arms are at 14'0. But it has 2 antenna. The back one folds down. The front one I have gorilla tape holding it in a hole... I added the 2 inches for the antenna just in case DOT measures the antenna nub.

Scaled out grossing 134k fuel of fuel.

Question: when you take off the bucket, does that not invalidate your permit because its now a divisible load?

winnj, tsavory, truckdad and 1 other person Thank this.

Depends on the state. Some states allow you to reduce a dimension like width and still allow you to haul the reduced piece even tho this creates a two piece load. We used to do the same thing with dozer blades here in Wyoming until they changed the rule.

    truckdad and 281ric Thank this.

When rates are tough out of Texas ya gotta haul two loads at the same time!
ETA: @KANSAS TRANSIT Drivers should be knocking down your doors! It took less time to secure the vans than the A/c units on top.

Calif. allowed this also but you had to specify on the application after the load description that the blade or whatever, was "Detached & reloaded" For example, "CAT D-9H with dozer blade detached & reloaded" They also allowed me to haul those 35,000Lb 12 pallet forklifts with the forks removed, set on the deck, with the lift sitting on top of the forks. This made the backrest of the lift hang over the side about a foot which created another reducible load but after a number of conversations with the permit engineer, and a "written request" Cal-Trans approved this method of moving this combo. This was more than 20 yrs ago.

Real learning experience loading this truck on there but I am enjoying the experience. Running light at only 60,000lbs gross. The nice thing is the blue truck only has 47,000 miles on it but it is three years old already.
