Ouch.
I'm a GM guy. I don't have any problem with other brands they all have their ups and downs. My grandpa and dad always had GM vehicles and I worked in a GM dealership for 15 years. My best friends work in GM dealerships.

I've got an '01 (bought new) ford 250SD diesel, 62k, most miles are from here in WA to my place in CA & going to the dump, never pulled a trailer bigger than my little 5x8 dump- I think I've had to replace darn near everything on it (just got done R&R the trans last month that had a factory defect so it had no 2nd gear).
I had an '03 (bought new) 250SD V10 I got for a support truck when I had the cranes- it was rode hard pulling heavy trailers and a bed full of rigging it's whole life, I never had to do anything but normal PM's & tires, sold it to a buddy of mine in ID & he pulls his boat, camper, plows snow- still going @ 240k last I heard.
Should I hate Fords or love them?Old Iron Thanks this. -
^^ Diesels like to be worked you would probably have had less issues with it if you drove it like you're 250 v10.

My 73 k5 had the 350, 350TH, NP 203 chain driven t case, 10 bolt ftont axle and 12 bolt rear.
The 79 had a 400sb, 400TH, NP 205 gear driven t case, 10 bolt front, 12 bolt rear.
The 87 had that pos 305 ho, the wimpy 700r4, the pathetic 208 belt driven t case, and 10 bolt front and 10 bolt rear.
Engine went out, transmission slipped, couldn't keep a belt on the t case you....and the steering column broke apart and the steering wheel would swing from the door to the dash. Why was the 87 worse than the 73? In everything? The other 2 were decent, but gm pulled out the stout parts for stuff they knew would fail in a 4wd.
How are you going to have a sportscar with a v6 motor have beefier parts than a 4x4 truck? A quarter million miles and bulletproof? I've ran that car on road course, 3 cannonballs, and not a hiccup.Last edited: Oct 15, 2015

I'm a gm guy myself. Have had a couple other brands, none were flawless but gm has come closest. -

American goods inferior? I never said that. It costs more to produce a quality product in the US. Between the lack of regulations, lower labor costs.. its difficult for American business to compete in the same market. Everything is consumer driven. Americans are sheep.. price dictates everything. I want America to be great once again. I happen to love this country.

Round about point was If I had just had the '03 id be rah-rah Ford, just the '01 not so much. I'm more if it works I don't care what is on the fender, unless it says Volvo......[queue hate posts now]. -
