That's a good idea. I was told to wrap the excess chain and bungee so I can only assume it's legal. I've not had a problem with that but I don't chain very often either. And when I do, I use my two ratchet binders before I'll touch one of my snaps.

But coincidentally, the load I loaded yesterday for Monday (in Whitby ATM with a different trailer waiting to load billets at Gerdau):

Are they counterweights for a crane or some other machine? Looks like you've got foul weather over there atm.

They are! For cranes as far as I know. It was raining yesterday but it wasn't too horrible.

This morning it's a little wet but overall nice.

It would want to be. Before the company crashed he order a lot of new trucks but couldn't take delivery, each with a 200-250 tonne pull like that at $20k each apparently. To relate, most thing here are about twice as expensive as you pay

I can imagine,.. do they have to order things like that from over seas or dont you guys have any manufacturers there who make/sell things like that?

Here in the USA, even though I have never seen it,.. I'm sure if someone had a need for that,.. it could be made or purchased somewhere here within a reasonable time frame.

Yes that is engineered manufactured and fitted here. There are plenty of places here that manufacture all sorts of things but as we all know it's becoming a world market and it gets harder for these companies to compete against cheap oversea products.

    So true.

I have a Fontaine sliding 5th wheel on mine and the adjusters for the jaws broke letting the king pin rock and knock on the 5th wheel.

I talked with a few people and decided it would be easier and the same price to just order a new 5th wheel. I was under the assumption that Fontaine was an American company and made everything here. I discovered that is not true. Like you said,.. everything is becoming a global manufacturing base. My brand new Fontaine 5th wheel came with a stamp on the front of it that read "Made in China". I was pretty upset over that.

I had it done last April and so far its been doing very well. I'm still not happy about where it was made though.
