The key to these CATs is to have long enough ramps that the screed does not drag the ground. We move them either on lowboy trailers or traveling axle trailers.
Now haul one with the cold cow still attached and that can be tricky getting the neck back on. Especially since the pintle ring on the front of the cold cow sticks through the neck.
Sleepy68, skootertrashr6, macavoy and 2 others Thank this. -
Our guys are really good about cleaning the pavers too except for all the water bottles. We are always having toss them off.
@cnsper
I seen your post last week about pulling the 9.5' wide, that's what I've been pulling. I really like it after getting ina groove with it. Especially when you have to side load a 290 in the dark around a bunch of cars. Having that extra foot gives you more leeway when turning it.
I had to remove the street sign to get it loaded.
I also like being oversized when your empty, it forces you to continually pay attention. I get complacent at times in the rollback. Last Monday was an adjustment after not driving a tractor trailer in 3+ months and being over tired from Thanksgiving weekend.

Mac, you need one of these Murrays... They recognize the 16 tire groups in TX dont they?

I have no clue if Texas accepts 16 Axel groupings but while that would have been good for this particular load, the large majority of our loads are done closing one lane and loading from the dirt / construction lanes or from the dirt of a new subdivision onto the newly put done concrete that we drive on.
The load above wouldn't have been an issue if he didn't send me do another load first and send me here after 5 when all the cars from the blocked street blocked all my loading lanes.
But it was a fun challenge for me. I like having to figure out a way to get a job done. I had to walk around 3 blocks to find a way in and make sure I had an out. -

Got to be 10' wide axles on the 16 tire, then I believe it is 60k.
Not so sure about loading over the back - it would scare the crap out of me
Rontruckdad Thanks this. -
On FB there is a group of lowbedders on there and they all brag about going over the back. I think it's a Cali thing.

I was pretty sure they allowed that. Some of you may not know that these Murrays, cozads, & other 16 tire units are what they call "expandos" they spread from 8'6" wide to 10' wide with 2 air rams. In CA, we get 54K+change at 8-6 wide & 60K at 10' wide with a 5'9" spread. And as a bonus, you get a little wider platform to load over. My empty weight with the trailer seen a couple posts back was 35,600. With a gross permitted limit of 126,725 it let me legal 46 tons +/-.
