It wouldn't be surprising seeing as how they've even tried to put skirts on drivers, and have succeeded to a point.

I'm averaging 7.7mpg running from St Louis down to Joplin lots of hills and had to drop a couple gears. Empty I was averaging 10. I also have my smoke tarp turned side ways and it didn't exactly all fit under the corner of the load so it's creating a little drag

 

What were your averages on that run without skirts?

 

I was refering to that load that @Abynrml2 had. With a bucket like that, you feel the drag even going down a mountain grade.
