When I had my trk. in the spring shop the other week, they went to move a trk. so I could park mine.
Now my wife is standing by our trk. and the one that needs to be moved was about 10 feet away.
He hits the start button and I heard the air starter and look for my wife.. She kinda jumped.. She never heard an air start before and me it's been about 25 years.. She asked me later what was wrong with the trk.. I had to explain that one to her..

Just finished 6 weeks work on a hauling job with the old girl, every day 80 tonnes gross in 40 deg C heat, 1,500 kms each way. (That's just over 176,000 lb, 104 deg F, and 932 miles in Freedom Units).
Click here to see some photos of the highly sophisticated way we stack the trailers up to come home. By the way, we use ratchet binders for the loads of steel, I just use snaps for securing the trailer.

    Oz,
I'm surprised you don't load the dolly aswell? Seems it would be a "bouncy" little nuisance back there all on it's own.

The Dock or Ramp, Do almost all your small towns have one that is basically public and everyone "shares" or are they privately owned but allow use for the benefit of the community??

Oz, I've come across of a few of your truck's videos on Youtube by chance and realized it was your rig I was watching. You've got the V8 CAT in there right? Amazing sounding motor. I'd love to work with equipment like that. The heavier the better. What kind of transmission setup are you running?

Last B-train load of the week on Thursday. We as a company did about 12 full B-train loads for a single distribution customer this past week. All within the city.

Nice easy load of reels. Well, it was supposed to be, dispatch said go pick up four wooden empty reels. Shipper says I'm getting four loaded metal reels. That can't get wet. And the shipper says he is looking forward to seeing our rolltite trailer.

    I said "What rolltite?"

I took no pictures of the tarping. It was not pretty.

Hows everything else look? Any constructive criticism? They were light, 5000 pounds per reel. If they had been heavier I probably would have used 3 chains per. March 12 2016 001.JPG March 12 2016 002.JPG

The only criticism I can come up with is the dunnage looks damaged from the reel edge (in the last picture). Not that it's easily preventable (and no one, unless they do this regularly, carries dunnage with 45 degree slices cut out), but I would have put some carpet on the dunnage.

Must suck when you get a load where the shipper doesn't communicate well with the dispatcher.

Nobody has mentioned to try to protect my dunnage. Usually it gets scrounged from wherever, it's not usually something that has been bought. Is there a reason why I should protect it?

    Thanks!

I was told that whenever you do coils or reels like this, dunnage with fractures are prone to breaking. I'm not super-familiar with this stuff anymore (it's been almost a year since orientation and I've never picked up coils or reels) but it might be an issue for the DOT.

I'm sure there are more knowledgeable guys or gals here that could tell you.
