He may be 60k bobtail because of all the safety stuff the newer trucks have. If you put a Western Express sticker on the side, that should raise it to 65k. Everyone knows that Western Express runs the heaviest heavy duty trucks on the road.

 

If you are doing regional here (super-b, quads, 5 axle trailer bulk/tank) consider that 64k+ tare everyone seems to want, or the truck is geared too low for that kind of work. Mine is factory "heavy spec- NW" but not a true HH spec, bigger/heavier just not the biggest/heaviest. I've seen quite a few real 4 axles (not a lift bolted to a regular truck) for sale around here lately, buyers market.

Looks like I'm picking up a couple loaded containers tomorrow.

 

Currently running for JJW out of spokane with a 4 axle 386 with 2-4 axle thankers/bulk and hopper a-trains. Looking to become an o/o with them or systems heavy flatbed devision. Looking for oregon lift axle spread specs but yet longer then 244 on the WB as I dont go to canada much so not having the tractor setup up short is ok with me.

I'm assuming those are loaded by all the securement. Why the cross chains to the top? I hauled one loaded once. Weight was about 40k lbs. I put 4 straps over the top and ran 2 chains from the trailer through the openings on the corners around the front through the corners and to the trailer. The front one pulling back and back one pulling forward. That's the way I've seen it done alot. Was I wrong? What's the pros and cons to each way?

That looks like the guy that loaded a 320 hoe out of my yard yesterday. He didn't know how to run it so I had to load it then I had to show him how to get his trailer to pin, the first thing he did was hang his signs and flags and put his rear sign over his lights. An hour later he still hadn't touched a chain, I had to tell him to hurry the hell up so I could lock the yard (I never lock the yard) then he grabbed 4 pieces of chain and tied it down. Nice 4axle Pete and nice lowboy running his own numbers but he didn't have a clue.
