I think the crossed chains like I did it is superior with each top corner having great force pulling it down towards it's opposite corner. That's also two chains instead of one.
I wouldn't say you were wrong but I think this way is simply more effective.
I've seen the way you've done it too. Maybe I would if they were empty.

That's how I would have done it as well, except I position the chains at the bottom of the container so it can't move forward or back.
Sleepy68, passingthru69 and Dye Guardian Thank this. -
I was just wondering. Always trying to learn. I would agree on greater down force.
Dye Guardian Thanks this. -
It stops them sliding sideways when they are cross chained.TripleSix Thanks this.

Ya I get that with the cross chain. I think my way would stop the sliding sideways as well though.

Mine are all providing some forward/rearward force at the bottom but not exactly like yours are set up.
Ozdriver Thanks this. -
Delivered a load of pipe this morning and then loaded this for tomorrow morning. If you look carefully at the building behind the trailer you can see the crane. That is where this stuff goes. worked 7 hours today and drove a whole 23 miles. Should have used an aero truck...

Ozdriver, Sleepy68, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this. -
Saw this last night. Not a flatbed but figured it was worth sharing.
