They've been dragging it out since day one. They kept trying to convince the court that the "Industry Standard" is $150 a day for down time. They could not produce documentation providing industry standard,.. only other cases where idiot O/O's settled for $150 a day.

Then they tried to say that my truck should have been fixed in 5 days,.. there for they do not owe the full amount,.. only 5 days. Well,.. yes it should have been five days,.. how ever,.. not 1 single shop within 150 miles was able to touch my truck inside of 3 weeks.

Then Koch refused to pay for my damages unless I signed a released that exempted them from any and all negligence,.. and never stipulated anything about lost income. I refused to release them from anything until AFTER my truck was repaired to my satisfaction. So it got dragged out,.. their fault.

So far lawyers are knocking out home run after home run. If I had this money when my motor when down,.. I would not have been in the financial bind I was in. I would not have been the stressed out jerk I was to everyone here on TTR last summer. 2016 is going to be a great year for me.

I try to look for other open deck trailers when I park in the pack at a truck stop. My truck is a bit longer than most so I do my best to back in as deep as I can with out losing a mudfap,.. LOL. That way they have enough room to get their trailer out with out dragging it across the front of mine. Kinda the same as parking at a rest area that has short spaces and even shorter turn outs.

If losing the mudflap is a possibility, cut a hole in the center bottom and use a bungee to curl it up out of the way. That is unless you run those cheap plastic ones, then you are on your own....LOL

I've got the cheap plastic ones that Fontaine put on,.. They look nice and fancy,.. except for the right rear,.. that one I've torn off 3 times already. And its not like I dont know about flipping it up to prevent it from ripping off,.. each time I did it,.. I was tired about not thinking clearly. I can back into a hole with my eyes closed,.. 1 shot no pull ups most of the time,.. but when its dark and I cant see the curb back there,.. I know I should get out and look,.. I guestimate,.. bump,.. thud,.. then I curse myself,.. then I get out and look at the mud flap under the tire,.. yep,.. SOB. If its salvageable,.. I'll flip it upside down and reconnect it in the morning. Eventually I'll get around to replacing those tedious lock nuts on rusted bolts.

I was backing up last Tues. evening to get turned around in the customers lot. I had to back across a small gravel pile. Yep pulled of the mudflap.. Get turned around and grab the mudflap. Pull outside their gate to re install said mudflap.. Well I snap 3 out of 4 bolts.. Guess who just went to the trkstp. one mudflap less on trailer..

    LOL

I had a similar thing happen in Wisconsin a while back. I backed into a snow pile. Apparently the heat from the mudflap melted the snow enough for the mudflap to sink into the snow. It froze over night and I felt a thud when I pulled out in the morning. I got out and looked,.. there was my mudflap sticking out of the frozen snow. I tried to beat it out with my cheater bar,.. nope,.. it wasnt coming out. I went 2 days with out a mudflap back there. By the time I got a mudflap it was dark and freezing,.. I didnt feel like fussing with it in the dark. I over slept the next morning and needed to roll out so I let it go another day.

Well here's something to ponder. Got an 05 Columbia thats got probably the better part of $50k sunk into it. Finally got all the bugs out of it. Its getting excellent fuel mileage,.. and all I can think about is replacing it before ELD's go live.
