I think I would of "X"ed all the coils. I don't think i'd trust the chains to stay on the center 3 the way their on there.

Yes, thanks. I'm not understanding why you people are suggesting it, and nobody I have worked around uses them. Does that make sense?

Jeezus @Chewy352. You said it was a handbook. 151 pages later I have my new homework.

Reels of cable always seem to find their way out of securement when strapped to the wall of a van.

A stupid story about this type of load. Stupid because I don't know what the driver was thinking. But he had the same load on him and it had a tarp on it. Pulled into a full rest area so he had to park on the sloped shoulder for the night. I don't know if it happened during the night or when he pulled out but the center coil slid off the trailer. The driver gets to the consignee and discovers the coil missing. Now this is a true story because another driver was passing the rest area and saw a wrecker lifting the coil off the side of the road. The only thing I could say is WHAT? Created a lot of questions in my mind.

On a side note I would put 3 chains on the front and last coils x-, 2 x chains on all remaining coils all with steel edge protectors. Also if you didn't want to build a bulkhead, put a trip chain U around the front and rear pallets.

Today is lube day for my ratchet binders. I was able to find Fluid Film locally so that's what I'm using. They sure are wet and loose now!
