We're trying to make hay between the rain so I'm trying to be home as much as possible. It's been a battle.

I am in the market for a 379. I like the color of his. I painted a few Mustangs that color,.. between a mineral gray and dark shadow metallic grey. Ford has a new bright metallic blue called Ocean Blue,.. really digging that color as an option too.

Ready to buy now. Called on a few on TruckPaper,.. I hate talking to sales people that cant answer my questions or return calls,.. sorry,.. not flying out to see a truck I know l little to nothing about,.. especially since I hate to fly. And I dont like to sound mean,.. but O/O's selling me sob stories does not make me believe you had the engine overhauled any more than the first time you told me, yet you some how misplaced the paperwork and can not remember where it was done at 125k mi ago.

I personally remember every single one of my repairs and the ball park cost of each and every single one. Plus I have paperwork for everything. Even the BS I did myself.

Not looking for a 600hp monster,.. just a nice clean working 96 - 99 379 with a 3406E or N14 475 - 500hp would be perfect, 13 or 18 spd, 150 gal tanks, 260 - 270 wheel base, 3.25 - 3.42 rears, stand up sleeper, clean frame, suspension and clean interior. The rest I can manage on my own. If it needs an overhaul,.. then the price I buy at should reflect that. Not paying $40 - $50k for a truck with 1.5 million on the original engine,. I dont care how clean it looks. My budget is up to $70k for the right unicorn out there. Cash in hand.

I think you'll have a hell of a time finding what you want with those gears.

I know,.. 3.55 - 3.70 is as close as I am seeing. I have seen a few listed with 3.42,.. but not the truck I am looking for.

Seen a few KW's with 3.25 gears. I would love to know the curb weight of a W9 with a CAT and 72" sleeper. My goal is to try to put a long nose, step deck together that can scale at least 46k. A 379 with 63" sleeper and the bare essentials might work. Would be easier with a Detroit,.. but I dont think I would be happy for very long giving up the torq curve of a CAT.

I might settle for 3.55 with 24.5 wheels. I am in no hurry to buy. I am looking for the perfect truck to retire with.

Also,.. I think its insane for how much it costs and what is involved to change a gear ratio. I have 3.55 rears in my Columbia and I wanted to swap out to 3.25. They schooled me on what was involved and how much it would cost. Almost easier to find the right gear and build the truck around it,.. LOL

I don't know what the difference in years would be weight wise, but my 05 W9 with a Acert and 18spd, 270 WB with 120 gal tanks full of fuel was 21,200 with me and all my junk in it, no headache rack. This was before I pulled deck trailers. I had that truck when I was with Mercer, with a 07 48' Fontaine combo SD I could scale 46,500 IIRC. That will at least give you an idea.
