My first shotgun coil. Critiques on my securement please. I'm mostly wondering about if my chains were high enough on the coil. And if my chains were far enough away from the coil where they attached to the trailer and if that really matters.![]()

What does it weigh?

passingthru69, PeteyFixAll and MJ1657 Thank this.

I meant to put that. 46550k lbs. There is 2 straps over the top as well
-
-
There's 4. I had them on opposite sides so I had room to work
-
Well I'm not a coil hauler but it looks like just you and me right now. I can't see much advantage to the way you have the chains crossed, I would probably put at least two more on.
Dye Guardian Thanks this. -
I'm not a big time coil hauler.
I don't x-chain coils, just don't like it. I have one on now that's 44k, 3 chains pulling to the left side, and 3 to the right, and 3 straps over the top.
My first chains actually anchor beside the coil, toward the center, the 2nd chain runs straight down perpendicular with the flat face of the coil, 3rd chains run at a bit of an angle away from the coil, much like yours do, only less for tarping reasons.Chewy352 Thanks this. -
I hauled lots of coils, I'd give it a thumbs up. Exactly how I'd do it.
Chewy352 Thanks this. -
Agreed you need at least 4 chains and binders. I would throw 6
Found this pictures always help.
Couldn't find mine.
