Make sure you have at least an inch of threads left on your binders also!

Personally I like your chains. The only thing I would do different is I don't like pulling the j plates forward or backwards. If you look at where they are touching the stop bolts they can run up over them and/or cut into them. Some people have success with them though. For things that can kill me I like it to be attached to a fixed point on my trailer. Less securement devices to fail.

I know why you are saying that but is there a regulation saying that that you can cite. I've never seen it.

I think they were referring that so if slack when settled you still have binder left to tighten and not have to re hook binder
    Just my thoughts though

How long does that usually take?

Ya I agree with that. It saves you from having to completely undoing and redoing your securement. I've seen/heard some people say that you have to have 1 inch or dot can write you up. I really doubt it but that's what I was getting at.

Will try to locate the reg but was instructed that Dot looks for this due to not being able to further tighten during transit!

I was told not to use the stakes pockets or posts. This was my attempt to follow rules. I'm not impressed with the angle pulls either.

    Chewy352 Thanks this.

Who told you that? I don't like using stake pockets for chains because the chains don't slide around them as well. Plus with my new trailer there's less space between the stake pocket and gasket then there is the spool and gasket.
