I was sitting in the motel, drinking a beer, posting on TTR when I heard a crash. I look out the window and I see a pickup truck coming from the interstate, through the bushes, across the service road, hit some brick columns, catch air and leap over a chain link fence and land atop another pickup truck. I put my shoes on and run downstairs. There are people in the parkinglot. Guess what they are doing
A. Calling 911.
B. Trying to see if the motorist is injured.
C. Taking pictures with their phones.
Yes, you guessed it, I am surrounded by idiots. This girl is in the truck, and she's still trying to drive...she's revving the engine. Smoke is coming from the bottom of the truck. I run and grab a fire extinguisher. The truck catches fire. I put the fire out. I start yelling at bystanders who are filming, "Somebody kill the engine!!!!"
The truck is sitting atop another truck and the chain link fence. Someone finally opens the driver's side door and tries to get the girl out. The fire starts again. "Kill the engine!!!! KILL THE ENGINE!!!!!!!" They can't get her seatbelt off and they're trying to pull her out. Doesn't anyone carry a knife anymore? "Kill the freakin engine!" A guy reaches up and kills the engine. Someone else brings a knife, and they cut the seatbelt and get the girl out and they lay her on the ground underneath the pickup truck. "Get her from under the truck! The truck might fall!"
"Oh!" They respond.
The girl is so coked up she doesn't know where she's at. When she finally can speak, she tells me that she needs to call her parole officer. The airbag bruised both her arms badly. She is wanting to get up and move, but I have her remain still.
A wrecker shows up (vultures). A fire truck shows up. The police show up. An ambulance shows up.
And a couple people walk from the interstate claiming that she hit them before hitting the median wall and going on that epic field trip. The girl starts crying because she totaled her dad's truck.
I was quite surprised that the group of drivers didn't know what to do. I was really surprised that hardly anyone carries a blade. What's in your pocket?
I picked this one up a year or so ago. Supposed to be titanium. Razor sharp. Cuts seat belts like butter. -
@TripleSix in mine right now is a Spyderco Valloton and a cheap no-name in another pocket. I have several more in my truck. I was carrying a nice Damascus Spyderco Stretch until the screws on the pocket clip loosened and lost one. It's been put away for the time being. I have a Chris Reeves Sebenza 25 (relatively expensive if you know knives) that I've had in storage for about a year and a half that I may just take out and start carrying one of these days.
Also have an Izula hanging in my truck beside the CB mic (never had a problem but if I were going to cross the border I would have to change I guess)-easy access cigar cutter that one is!
Oh I almost forgot the sheathed Gerber on my belt too. I haven't pull that one in a long time but I wear it everyday.RGN, G13Tomcat and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
The Vallotton. It does need a sharpen but is still performing.
TripleSix and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
