The "D" is also required in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba and Alberta accept "OVERSIZE LOAD", "WIDE LOAD", "LONG LOAD" and "D". Most drivers in the prairies just use the D since it covers all load "overs" (width, length and height) and they don't have to switch in Saskabush.

Guess he figures it to be no big loss of it comes off the trailer. After all, it is just a Ford.

My next one might be a Dodge 2500. That's a hell of a tradeup from a Ford Ranger. Unfortunately though, manual transmissions on an American truck are slim pickings anymore.

Well, I've actually been a GM man all my life, until recently when I had to abandon that stance and switch to Ford for "philosophical" reasons. I'd buy another if I could replace mine with another one like it, but I detest the idea of being compulsorily dumbed down to someone else's lowest common denominator.

I've seen 'em use the portables a few times. Problem is, they take so long, the line gets backed up and they end up giving everyone a pass, unless you just happen to roll up as another truck is leaving the portables scales. I've never had to get on them.

It's few and far between that anyone is even in that eastbound scale house though. Usually closed. Westbound is usually open during the day.
