Frac trees are the worst second only to a bop stack standing up on a 2ft spool.

    Congrats on the truck.

At least that BOP has 2 foot diameter surface area on the deck. Sometimes they require dunnage under it, but solid oak 2x4's still spread the weight. I use 2" straps for cinch wraps on the arms to stabilize it side to side, then two 4" straps on the arms and two chains.

Those particular frack trees had about 4'000 lbs coming down to about 2 square inches of surface area. I've been thinking of how to better protect the deck and provide a solid ride. I have a feeling I might be meeting Mr. Gnarly Tree again the future. Maybe steel disks with rubber mats? Still thinking on this one.

The problem is carrying something like that with you on the off chance of getting a load like that isn't very practice. If you'll chain a bop four ways from the top you'll never need any straps or anything to stabilize they'll just stand there, either loop around the top bolts and pull down or choke just below the top flange and pull down. Just remember not to get anything super tight until they are all on there.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Yeah, I certainly don't want to fill my side boxes with specialized gear. Looking at my next trailer I will be getting into, the space is even more limited. Only one side box and a dunnage rack that is less than optimal.

Finally back to flat deck for today:

Natural gas pipespool with meter. Dispatch said I was picking up a "one metre crate". Glad I get paid by the hour for this stuff.

I'm getting good at this pneumatic bulk work though. Got a 24 tonne (26.5 ton) load of phosphate blown off in less than an hour and a half. Still prefer pulling a skateboard, but I'll keep doing the bulk so long as freight continues to be slow.

Not much difference between a '62 and, say, a '74.

I like all the small cabs. At least they still look like trucks.
