Had this exact same thing happen to me on the Cross Bronx Expwy pulling a reefer just as morning rush hour was starting, talk about fun. The girl that ran up under the trlr wasn't hurt other than some scratches on her arm from flying glass. If she had had a passenger it would have killed them. Smashed the passenger side of the car to the center console. I thought I had killed somebody before I got out of the truck. Drug the car about 200ft before I got stopped. What was amazing was she was out of her car before I was out of the truck. Needless to say it scared the bajeebers out of both of us.

I just watched the JJ Keller securement training video a couple weeks ago (apparently I'm qualified enough now to do orientation for the company) and will quote them and say you will get dinged on any damaged strap, based on the rules.
However, I've heard anecdotal evidence that says they only care that you have enough. Probably one of those "can they be bothered to do the paperwork or would they rather pass on your for the next overweight driver?" situations.
I use extra because it's a good idea to always do more than the minimum, and always check all straps and chains and binders before using them.Chewy352 Thanks this. -
Oh yes, and I've got an incredible story that I'll share on the weekend when I have the dashcam footage strung together. There was a snow storm here over the past couple days and I got stuck in the truck 4 hours from home since Monday. They closed the Trans-Canada highway for over 32 hours and once it opened back up, drivers lost all sense of professionalism and safety.
But it's like three hours of footage and I don't have the time to do anything with it tonight.Lepton1, Dye Guardian, PeteyFixAll and 1 other person Thank this. -
Now I'm no btrain strap expert but I've got 18 straps on this thing. I'm catching flack from coworkers because they say there's some law about how high it is also plays into effect how many straps you need. Never heard of it.,.. anyone care to chime in? @not4hire

Holy crap. They posted just about every scenario in there. 3 belly straps if longer then 10 feet seems excessive to me.

Heading north again. Hope to get to Casper before the wind starts up again.
