I wouldn't order one without winches on both sides... Having 10-12 winches on both sides seems to workout just perfect

  3. I found a good strap protection. in. "fire hoses" cut the hose on sections then you can slide them on . or. slice then one side in middle. to use as strap protection. any fire house you can ask if they have discarded hoses.

yes, that would be a good idea. The plastic banding holding the bottom skid together looked like it was under alot of strain and the 2x4 had a slight bow in it.

i haul that stuff all the time never had 3" shift like that just from strap tension, hell i bow the pipe with my belly straps. That 3/4 or 1 thats on top is a pain in the ### Never seems happy ,

I have a goofy idea, think it would work. Assuming you still have a free winch on pass side you could run one from the pass side under the 1" up over the top and back down to the pass side to pull tension away from the lean and taking a little pressure off thr bottom pallet. Having it go on road would be messy. :)

    Skellr,you could do it differently.
There's a way to keep those 3" more stable.
    Takes 4 straps.
Hook strap and roll it open over the floor.(before anything is loaded)
1from left, and 1 from right side by side at around where the end off the packs will be.
Repeat at other end off pack.
    Load those 3" packs.
Then throw straps over the packs before they put on the 1" pipes.
Bring the 2 on one side under light tension.
Go to other side and tighten hard.
Back to other side and bring those under light tension to full tension.
Done this way the bottom packs can no longer shift, sway or come loose.
    They are rock solid.

I hope you get what i mean,it is hard to explain in typed words. :biggrin_25521:

So effectivly choke the 3". :) i think the loaded f'ed him. That 1" is hevey and unstable piled up on top, should have spread the 1" out over several stacks IMO the 1" shifts hard unless it is isolated when its so high up and that shifting overcompressed the the 3. Your choking idea would definatly work tho its a good idea, and would probably straiten up a bad stack if you got lucky.

    skellr Thanks this.
