Bummer. BTDT... but not in a big truck, just a passenger vehicle.

    Oooohhh!
I had the exact same thing happen many years ago. Never did find the outside dual. I'd love to know how far out in the woods it made it at 70mph.

Okay, I have to tell my wheel-off story...

    Once upon a time...

    Nope.

    This ain't no ####...

    Better.

A friend and I borrowed another friend's Datsun 510 wagon to go visit another friend in the hospital. On the way home we're driving on a major road (six lanes) at rush hour and I'm in the left-most lane. All of a sudden I feel a "thunk" from the right front. Then I see this wheel and tire in the mirror, dropping back on the right-hand side.

Then it drops back, in behind us, in our lane.

Then it moves all the way over to the left and starts to pass us. o_O

As it is passing us on the left it starts to bounce.

    Higher.

    Higher.

Starting to bounce higher than the Jersey barrier separating the traffic directions.

During rush hour. (I'm envisioning it clearing the Jersey barrier... right into an oncoming car's windshield)

Just as it's about to clear the Jersey barrier, it glances off a light pole and comes back over to our side.

As I pull over to get off the road (meanwhile, sparks be flying from the front rotor dragging on the ground), the wheel weaves in and out of traffic until it runs out of steam and flops over. Some perceptive fellow stops and puts the wheel over to the side of the road.

My friend and I get out of the car and hop over the Jersey barrier on the right side to walk up to get the wheel. We saw the guy move it out of the lane, but couldn't see it on the way to get it.

When we get there, some other perceptive fellow (a-hole) had decided he needed it worse than us and stole it.

    I swear, this ain't no ####...

Gotcha. My position is still solid on wanting the boys to see what they can have when they grow up. If they are willing to work hard, which they are.

    I insist on it.

Not4hire, I like the way you tell a story!

That really bites @cnsper. I was eating lunch & now I feel a little sick to my stomach.
BTDT, too. I think I told the story of the exploding passenger door here awhile back.

First time that has happened to me. Funny that I didn't feel anything. Just looked in the mirror and a tire was rolling next to me. Maybe the wind kept me from feeling it, I don't know.

My brother in-law's company truck used to be a super duty 450 service body, he used to keep the breaker bar with the lug socket on it in driverside front box, that's how often it would feel alittle wishy washy, and a set of duals would be loose!! He'ld say stopped, payed the toll and tighten the tires!!!!
I know he wasn't joking, we had the same truck and ran a sander on it, more than once that truck plowed right out of its shoes!!! Funny as hell coming over the hill to see that truck sitting in the road, full blade of snow and two tires sitting there!
