I,ve told this story before, here it goes. Started with CRST in the late 90's.Trainer was a hot head, needed anger management classes. He would sit there and holler at you when you were trying to shift.Tell you to go faster in a high winds ,lightning and thunder storm up in Minnesota. Some days he would tell you "you,re going to breeze right thru this training,(next day screaming again). All he listened to was these Led Zepplin tapes(had about 6 of em). He ate these weird rye bread sandwiches with some kind of weird meat on them.NEVER wanted to stop moving. My 1st day he drove from Branson Mo to Terra Haute Indiana without stopping. He would "square off" at other truck drivers, get in their face, holler at them.Told one driver"slow the f... down.Guy got out of his truck and they stared each other down.I have to say he was a "Road Warrior" though and could back in anywhere it seemed. I was really glad to get away from him,but I suppose I learned how to drive, and that was what it was all about.

Watch out for lease driver trainers............student=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to make truck rental fees. -
Only time I ever dealt with a trainer is when I went to flatbed. Already had a few years driving, just needed securment training.
My trainer was such a great guy, I can't fathom (to a point) some of these horror stories.
We took one trip (3 loads in that trip) to Vegas and back to Iowa...in 5 days. Old boy told the company I got it down, and they issued me a truck that day.nadiyah2000 Thanks this. -
Focus on Fundamentals: There are On-line Complaint Forms that maybe filled out on Carriers to Govt Agencies...If, you believe that you've directly observed unsafe acts...report, report, report.

Chinatown Thanks this.

Think drivers have to attend a class for 3 days before becoming a trainer, all of what was taught in class soon goes out the window once they they get their first student and companies don't care. They treat that as oh well another one bites the dust attitude when trainees/trainers clash.

My second night out with my trainer I decided to hang out in the truckstop and provide him with some private time. I came back to the truck and when I opened the passenger door to get in, the light came on and startled him, he thought I was an intruder and reached under his mattress and pulled out a 24" machete and threatened to kill me! LOL!
When he realized it was just me, he apologized, slipped the machete back underneath his mattress and asked me not to "tell anyone" about it at the office
Not exactly trainer abuse, but a funny story nonetheless.nadiyah2000 Thanks this. -

Yeah, he wore real thick coke bottle glasses and was blind as a bat without them on. He's retired now due to a stroke, but we had a few laughs about that afterwards.
I never did tell anyone in the office about that either -
ncmickey and Scooter Jones Thank this.
