Good choice...those tractors tend to move cheaper than they should. Although most equipment off the East Coast moves too cheap. There is plenty of stuff out of the Baltimore area that should pay you $2/mi+ without stops or OD.

 

Great minds think alike, awful lot of risk for a load that is High value just to make a few dollars

Yes I sure am, Baltimore had a lot of crap, 3 wide tractors 3 stops $1100 on "550miles", a water truck to Cheyenne Wyoming 3600 on 1700 couldn't load til Monday crane parts 1400 on 750 couldn't load til Monday this happens EVERYTIME I go there I'll use my time I got on my log book to drive home

 

My load to vt will pay +\- 2500 good start to a week

 

I did the same thing last week. I was supposed to pick-up some armor plates from Philly but the load canceled. I got $400 TONU and said heck with it and just used it as fuel money to go home. So 650 miles empty and the truck actually got 10.6mpg at 63mph.

Got that load of Humvee's going to Minot, then picking up 1 piece right there at the AFB and the rest in Rapid City going to Vegas. Same agent got me a load from Nellis. Sometimes you just goota bounce back empty. Just make sure the rate out justifies it !!! That OS load I took to Baltimore paid $4 mile to the truck after permits and LS chunk, so i was able to pocket $2 mile round trip, which is not wonderful, but better than running 47,000# of lumber for $1.50 mile coming back.
