I am a company driver. $3300 is what the load paid ME. 1600 is the actual odometer miles from pick up to drop off. So yes, I made $2.06 a mile, but once I added my 500 miles of deadhead back to our terminal in Ohio it dropped to $1.57 for all miles on the trip.

what did the load pay the truck?
I am guessing you are paid percentage then?
I am asking only because I hope to work out of the van and back into double drop and eventually get back to heavy hauling. (army transport of bradley's and M113 series vehicles experience)
The trailer I'd love to have. These guys are like 8 miles from the house here.

I do get paid percentage. Near as I can figure load paid $10.23 per mile plus cost of permits and escorts.

It was embarrassing.... It paid well, so I didn't mind. So when you going heavy haul? You know you want to....

I like the air release on the pin
I personally like either a Fontaine or Talbert. The empty weight on a Fontaine is low.Last edited by a moderator: May 9, 2015

what's the benefits of a mechanical RGN Vs a Hydraulic other than a possible weight savings?
We used a fixed Goose or else a folding neck in the guard. It was lifted by a winch on the back of the truck. -
There is no benefit to mechanical IMO. Sure one can argue, no hydro lines, wet line, etc...
The time and ease of use FAR out weigh the mechanical. As far as weight, I have a complete hydro set up, on 7axles, full of fuel and I have twin 150gal tanks, I can scale 102,000k. If I was mechanical I could prob scale 104,000k
aiwiron runs a mechanical, not by choice. Maybe when he's not in the cab with a gun in his mouth due to the mechanical, you can ask him about it -
Mechanical,
Lighter weight by some manufacturer specs, the only benefit.
Mechanical RGN takes 5 extra steps to load and unload, you have to get down and pull the pins manually, it is not the choice as demo said.
Be prepared to crawl around a little in all kinds of weather, Also a mechanical should have ramps for the rollers on the truck frame to have it roll up. -
DEMO Thanks this.

I know it's not a load picture, but I thought it was cool anyways.
My dad took this picture on his way into Indy yesterday
DEMO Thanks this.
