JD doesn't require you to cover the exhaust. Hauled for them for decades and never had an issue and it was never required. I know TMC covers exhausts for some JD equipment but it seems to be company specific policies since it is not mandated by the manufacturer or logistics service.

A roll of duck tape will save you alot of headaches. Required or not, company policy or not I'd do it just for peace of mind on my part just know that air aint spinning the turbo or a large amount of rain water blowing into the motor.
    Just my 2 cents

I asked them at the factory when they loaded it and they said it doesn't need to be taped or covered. It doesn't say anything on the paperwork about it either. So I'm not gonna mess with it.

Exhaust pipes are not always in the best spot. I would prefer my drivers not climbing on top of a piece of equipment 12 feet in the air for unnecessary piece of mind. Throw in a little snow/ice/rain. It is easy to slip and be off work for a very long time. If it is not required/requested, my drivers won't be crawling around up there. If you are an o/op, I would encourage you to think about what happens if you are laid up for 6 months or more. Just isn't worth the risk.

I've never hauled brand new equipment or from dealers, but I would imagine if it's not on your paper work that your rear end is covered if the exhaust pipe is not?

If I worried about what can happen, what could happen, what every trial lawyer could do, what could happen while I'm racing, I'd never ever leave the house.

What if your roof falls in?

I was always told to cover the exaust on a turbo charged engine. So thats what I do, I don't like the climbing around and hanging off a piece of equipment that high off the ground. If deere doesn't require it then I probably won't do it anymore.

There is obviously risk in life. My point is to choose when the risk is worth taking. There is not much point in taping the exhaust for a customer that doesn't require it when one accident could be very costly.
