I was thinking about starting to use some rope on my tarp jobs, I think if I had an assigned trailer I would use almost all rope, it doesn't break as smack you in the face.

No, it is not. Not even close, and I don't reveal my shippers on open internet forums, so cheap rate scabs can try cutting in. (Not saying you are one, or not.) Loose lips, sink ships and gets your freight taken away.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment. However, I must admit that this was an experiment that did not work out as successfully as I had hoped. What you see are not lumber tarps, but a 10X12 smoke tarp covering the back, a 16X27 steel tarp and a 16X24 steel tarp with matching 4 foot skirts and another 10X12 smoke tarp covering the front. While each piece was easier to handle, the time and labor spent going up and down the ladder, to hook everything up, was too much. I literally spent all night on this one project and was completely wore out, when I got done. I know I will be at least a couple hours, at my delivery, unhooking everything, and rolling them all up. I think it would be better to just get a set of 3 piece lumber tarps, as each piece is less than 80 pounds and not near as much ladder work. Lesson learned!
BTW, I did end up adding bungees to the 2 foot row of Ds, in an X pattern, to cut down on the billowing. I have used rope, before, with mixed results. The best rope I have found to use, in my opinion, is 3/8th California Truck Rope, orange and black.

[h=2][/h]550 parachute cord type IV was mychoice, you can purchase it on 1000ft spools for around 50-60dollars. Online is your best source.

Add boat mooring cleats under yourtrailer rails at 2 feet on center and you have a way to secure thetarp with the rope, rubber cords were always my choice as well onspools, did my own cords and could cut it as I needed it.

I like to make up a fake shipper or location on a forum and then wonder how many rate cutters there are chasing the fairytale freight!

Just had another idea. If you ever want to get back at an a-hole shipper, find out their direct number and make a post about some $4/mile freight and post his info and that he needs trucks!
