I just did it last 2 weeks, Halifax to montreal 35000 lbs i think was the first load, 6.9 mpg, tandem axel, then last week, 28000 in a triaxel halifax to montreal, same speeds, (i lock the cruise at 98 let the truck do its thing), 5.9 mpg. Rolling resistance is huge as far as miles per gallon, cheap tires with high rolling resistance can cost you several percent, an extra 4 on the road, plus the weight etc, is a lot, and our company could care lesss about rolling resistance, they buy the cheapest tires possible. thats why a lot of guys are specing tractors with one dead axel that will lift and one axel on the trailer that will lift, if your mty or really light you can lift 2 axels off the ground and save big dollars.

Locked the cruise at 98 ? Explain please ? Hope that wasn't your speed ? - LoL - Anyway , Back in the day, drivers would add 15 to 20 lbs to air pressure to get better mpg / wear /and a better ride. I wonder with all the tech stuff even to tires today if anyone still does that. .. Or if even allowed ? read one of the post this week were someone was asking if SWIFT drivers were even allowed to put air in there tires ?
