Only time I messed with my air pressure was when i was hauling the super light loads in my phunamatic tank. I set my tires at 85psi to help with the rough ride and bouncing. It helped a lot and smoothed everything out. Now I just keep them at 100 psi all the way around.

Four chains? I only use two on stuff like that, with four binders.

Even if only 4 chains still come on as long as you don't leave your chains on the wagon because you don't wanna drag them from the rack
