    I ain't complaining! BTW, the whole load only weighed 14,300. Ran the whole way with the front axle off the ground.

    I'm sure it does, as that is four less tires and two less sets of wheelbearings adding friction, but I don't check it that close. Being open deck, our loads effect fuel mileage more than anything.

    Surely saves the tires tho. That would be my #1 reason for doing it.

    SHC,Autocar,the liftaxle saves the following:

    Tires on the lifted axle.

    Fuel,specially with them being double tyres.

    And lastly,it is better for your drive tires.
    That is something which gets overlooked sometimes.

    In the last 30y this has been tested here and the results are known.
