What I have alllways done when deflating tires on machines, block the axles.
Figure out how how much you are going to drop. Then place blocks under the axles at that height or just a bit taller.
Then let the air out and chain it down.
Like it has been posted you can ruin tires that way plus you get the play issues that can happen, due to the tires being what I would call loose.
Just opens up a can of possiable damage claims
