It is hazmat but non-placarded. It is in pellet form with just an inhalation hazard.

I was wondering if that was ND but that was really a Canadian style rig and I didn't kno they had any wheeler's in the states. I sold to Hemphill before they bought speedy in early 2010.

What UN number? Have you run the paperwork through the Hazmat Department? Even as an ex AA&E driver, I run all haz paperwork through them. CYA, I can't afford the fines for minor screwups on the paperwork.

I would have to bet that would be a hefty hefty fine!

No UN number, not hazmat. I verified it thru the hazmat dept also. i used to haul this stuff in my tanker, it does not require placards just a MSDS sheet to go with it. Dry bulk is a lot different than the liquid totes

Cool, just trying to keep you out of trouble. Some of these Agents don't get all the info and then we end up dealing with the screwups. In Dec, I went to load some of those bins, out of Tuscaloosa, dry bulk, that was supposed to be HazMat. First indication was when they tried to give me placards with the UN written on them with marker. Second indication was when the paperwork turned out to be a manifest, not a BOL. Crap was Haz Waste, not HazMat. We are only authorized to do two types of Haz Waste, very low level radioactive and old cannon powder for the DOD. No others. I got to leave that stuff at the shipper and go find another load.
Did a 2.2, last week. The shipper's hazmat expert had 6 different violations on the paperwork, when I got there. She had a nice conversation with our HazMat Department, before I left. I won't risk our Hazmat Safety Permit, nor do I have the money to pay Hazmat penalties, they are way too expensive. Saw a U.S. DOT penalty schedule, on placards, once at a shipper/reciever's location. They can be up to $25,000, per placard, to the driver and up to $250,000, per placard, to the carrier. Way to rich, for my blood!

Yeah I hear ya. Hazmat is one of those things I know very well from running tankers. I sometimes wish it was all i hauled. It is actually very easy once you know all the rules and regs and the pay is very good since most won't mess with it.

The containers I have on say something along the lines of "certified for haz waste" which instantly made me go back to the shipping office and ask what EXACTLY was inside them. I found out it was brand new product and not hazmart placardable. I then had them fax a copy over to LS HAZMAT Dept just to cover my own butt. Everything was correct. It helps that it came from a Chevron Chemical plant and is going to a Chevron Plant in MS.
