Load it....secure it....pull the fasttrack shut...and drive it

Usually a overweight permit is for a "Non Divisable load" which means the load cant be made smaller. If you had ONE 80,000 coil. If you have two coils your load can be made smaller by taking one off. And are chains rated for 6600# each or are the chains, binders and what the chains are attached ALL rated for 6600#?

In OH and MI all those rules don't apply to steel haulers. I think MI is 150,000 lbs, divisible or not, you just have to have enough axles. I want to say jfaulk said you can do 112,000 on 5 axles in OH.

So you think 4 3/8 chains are good for a 40,000lb coil? :biggrin_25513:

I put 4 3/8 chains on a 48,000lb coil ... So I guess the answer to your question is .... Yes

Ohio issued the permit ... I gave them my measurements and all the permit is good for 1,2,3 coils and 116,000lb

6600# anchors I'd still use at least 6 per coil.

All you rookies using chains on coils.... back in the day, they just set them in the rack and let the bungies keeping the tarp on hold it in place lol
