When I hauled some of the combines and compaired my pay to the heads, the heads paid crazy money!!! I made a weeks pay for a weekend run from E. Moline JD plant out to Idaho on a 2 stop with 2 heads and a stack of tires!!! I loved those loads, so light and takes about 20 minutes to secure and be out the gate!

I am starting to miss the OTR more and more!!! Too much BS involved in the union jobs in "the Chicago Machine"!

The one I hauled was a prototype so it paid extra well. The second best paying load I've ever done.

They tended to pay to the truck in the 4 a mile range. I was fine with that making 29% of the gross LOL!!!

That's what happens when farming goes corporate. You want laughable? I can remember when a 300hp 4wd articulated case was the cream of the crop. The new steiger quad is now offered in a 620 horse version. Makes the old narrow front M & H my grandaddy ran look like a toy...then again my grandaddy would still be running circles around them corporate farmers that can afford a $500,000 tractor if he was still around too.

BTW his old massy had a 12ft head hydraflex. And if I recall correctly a 3 or 4 row corn head. I'd have to search through the pictures again and find them all. Sire brings back memories. I'm sure hes still up there laughing at me with a hotshot. He used a club hahaha. My how times have changed.

Just out of curiosity, how do you decide on best paying load, RPM or total revenue? I was just trying to think of the best load I've ever managed to put together. The best one last week was probably a 425 mi power only for $3400.00.

Well there are a lot of factors to me. How long is the trip miles wise. How much to the trk. after everybody gets their cut and how long will it take to do it?
The last part is on some of those bigs ld. I used to pull. Like when I was to go to Alaska before my opps. They were talking 30k for dh. up and back, but never how much for the lds.
My buddy ended up doing it, pulling a company trl.
All said and done he said he lost money with all the sit time that was not paid waiting to haul the lds.

Then I've been approached about hauling a 17' w by 19' h on the trl. Still waiting on the total dollars to me and how long they plan the trip to take..

I did a $17,000 round to California and back once. Left home Thursday morning (did a short Illinois round Monday and Tuesday) back home the next Friday night. I'd say that was by far the best week I'd had

Saw a Pete of yours pulling a RGN today by Walcott. How many trailers did you buy?

I go by gross pay, and rate per mile.

my best load ever was a run I did from Anniston, AL to Herlong, CA. It paid me $8,500 on a piece 30x8x4 and I was able to fill out the trailer with another load I grabbed in Ft. Smith, AR with a stop in Jerome, ID and final in Sacremento that paid another $6,500.

that draper head paid me $9,500 from quad cities to Shafter, CA. I also did a run from Kokomo to Calexico that paid the same, with $3,500 of it being for layover cuz the trailer needed to go into Mexico. I got lucky and got there on Friday and they just trans loaded it into a truck. So I didn't have to wait
