The first open trlr I ever pulled and the first over size load I ever hauled all in one. The year was 1975, the load was a modular bank building from Clearwater FL going to Wilkes Barre, PA. !4 ft. wide and loaded at 15' 3" high on a stretch step. No strobes just signs and flags and we ran with the 4-way flashers on. No escorts untill we got to Cincinnatti then we picked up a pole car. The old Pete (well it was a fairly new Pete back then) had a lil ol Clatterpillar and a 15 spd double over with deep reduction and 444 rears. I was a nervous wreck. First oversize load 001.jpg

  7. One of our many family get togethers was to Scranton / Wilkes Barre, PA. In 75' (uncle has dairy farm). The cab over's and big trucks always caught my eye. I wonder if I did see you back then, you could of been one of my reasons for being in trucking... "Keep on truckin'" still cool as ever thank you..

And that's coming from Cluck, who has posted many cool pics as well.

Those cabovers, that oversize load, the guys sitting on the hill taking a break, and the dog running around. Very cool.

And then the follow up post from Peterbilt 2005... The level of respect shown here is an amazing thing.

Awesome pic. Brings back fond memories of my grandad. I used to ride with him in the old cabovers in the early -mid 70's.

I remember playing in the rest areas while he was napping on the picnic tables. (No a/c in truck) Much cooler on the table under a shade tree. My how times have changed!!!!
