I hear you.......Waste of time for me THESE days...10-15 years ago I could Load 10-15 trucks a day up and down I-95 from Wilmington,De up to Ridgefield,NJ back to Chicago without killing myself.

here comes the internet,Loadboards,Smartphones and certain Individuals Cleaning up What once was a feesable Backhaul market for me. Its a goshdarn struggle anymore..The Few Loyal folks I have left for inbound Chicago aren't Daily Moves.

Free Markets Destroyed what once was an industry We were able to grasp a hold of..

    How to Fix the problem?

Simple..We need to CLOSE any further Open carrier Markets to the general public....(No more MC #s) Regulate the Industry, And established carriers carry what was once ours.

eliminate approx. 20% of the Truckload "Freight" markets of domestic shipments...

Rates will obviously go up, Customers can count on quality service, And the 3pl community will not have 'their way" any longer.

I disagree on any market "fix" by government regulation. Government usually doesn't do anything better than the private sector, and only benefits the companies that own the politicians writing the regulations. A free market is neither run by cronies or government, nor is it a closed loop or zero sum.

Fact is, those markets served by bottom feeder carriers are not the customers I care about. Bottom feeder customers and carriers are a match for each other.

I have used this feature with Members Edge
and I get a lot of calls on the post, some are from England Log. they want me to p/u an empty an use it for 10 days to haul my own
Then there port brokers uugghhh TWIC RFID azzhats runnin into my truck,
but nothing really meaningful as in $$$$ I usually to have to search it out or past customers call me.

And they say~ " I can call you honey 75 times while I offer you 50% of the rate I offered to your direct customer, which was already 40% cheaper than what you charge, NO TARP!"

God some days I wish I lived in the woods with nobody but a good dog.

That's funny right there. I wish they'd all do that. Just so I could say: Sure I'll do it, but only if you're cute and you just ride along and whisper it in my ear 75 times instead. But you can't touch anything in the truck while you're riding, and you have to go outside in the rain and open the doors when we get there. And buy me a coffee and a sausage biscuit every morning.
