Has anyone ever had a load of potatoes with a temp recorder that has gotten to 55 degrees refused by the receiver?

No. Potatoes are probably the heartiest produce there is. You are good for a wide temp range, as long as it's around 60 they are fine. You are being taken for a ride. I hope your insurance company is good. You can help them (and yourself) by doing everything you can to prove the product is in good condition. Then your insurance company could tell them their claim is denied.
Old Iron and Montanajon Thank this. -
Let me guess, Walmart?

I apologize, I have not had the load refused yet. My temp on my reefer was set at 42. I didn't realize right away that my discharge temp was 57. Pulp did get to 53 before I caught it. But I am sure my recorder went to high. So I am concerned that this product might be rejected. I am new to reefer.

The pulp temp won't change much at all. What did they pulp at when you loaded them? Did you check? I'd guess they want it on 60. If so, set it there and go deliver it. It isn't rejected yet so learn from this and go forward. I'm thinking they won't even check the recorder unless they are either looking for a reason to reject it maybe they over ordered or if the pulp is too far out of range.
Let us know what the end result is.Montanajon Thanks this. -
Pulp was actually 48 when it was loading.
Every thing is down to the required temp now. -
Montanajon Thanks this.

Biggest thing on produce is to pulp it when loading and putting it on the bills. Loading melons out of the fields makes the reefer run hard. We could barely get them to temp for a next day delivery. Always pulp your produce when loading.
