I found a local job willing to take a chance at hiring me with no CDL experience pending drive test. It is nice knowing that i can go home every night. My wife & I just had our first child, a girli could not imagine being away from her & my wife for a long period of time.
I graduated from truck driving school last July. I have not been in a truck or driven a truck since then. I might be a little rusty, but I for dammn sure did not forget how to shift as I can remember right now as I'm typing this out.
I can still remember the pretrip Word for Word and the different shift methods, shift points and RPMs. My question to all of you on here is what should I expect on the drive test as the truck is a bobtail with a tanker attached to it.
Im not sure if these bobtail trucks are automatic or manual. I have done my research on these type of trucks & there are alot of propane trucks that are automatic.
pretty much if i do good on the drive , i get a job offer. i am a little nervous but i expect to do just fine.
just wondering if any of you on here can give me any tips or pointers . thanks
Potential job offer Delivering Propane~have to pass drive test

Follow their company procedures for loading/unloading to the letter.....
Most propane companies don't have a sense of humor about safety.
A single axle bobtail will most likely be auto... just take it slow and easy..Fede671 Thanks this. -
Don not hit anything is all i can ad.
Fede671 Thanks this. -
Ive never hauled Propane or Propane accessories but Im almost 100% certain that it will surge on you. So be very leery of that and the truck will most likely have a 8-9L engine so 300-350hp with a 5 or 6 speed Allison auto behind it.

The reason I know there baffled is the tanks have got to have a hydro test done every 5 years and they go inside the tank and use a special light to check for cracks in the welded seems of the tank. The place where we take ours there is this real small guy and he lays down in tank and crawls under baffle.
Roberts450 and Fede671 Thank this. -
just follow the rules & always stay on top of your safety. I used to work in a oil refinery so i know alot about safety. -
sounds like me when i had to go inside tankers & hydro blast them clean for change of product. those were my skinny days.LoL now i have daddy weight as i have put on a couple lbs while my wife was pregnant with our daughter. -
The propane delivery is a different animal in it's self, You will get frustrated with it at first because you are constantly lost. GPS is a good thing but it's not always right. One thing to keep in mind is if you stick with it withen a year you will know where most all the customers are and it will be a breeze. Does the company you are going to work for use computers in the truck or just printed tickets with cust name and address?
Fede671 Thanks this.
