The laptop solution might avoid the issue all together as it can, if needed, boot up using its own battery for that initial power spike and then plug it in and use the inverter to simply top off the battery either after boot up or between uses.

The best way to go about it is to find out how big the power supply in your PC is. Either search the model number online and try to find the specs or just open it up and look for yourself. There's a label on the power supply that has the wattage rating. Once you have that, find a pure sine wave inverter that is rated for at least 35% more wattage than your desktop and have it installed.

I run a 2500 as well. I found it pretty much covers whatever I can stuff into a truck.

Laptop won't use the inverter to "run" but to charge the battery. I've a 400watt cheap one. Running through the 150watt outlet. I have no issues running it. Usually run the engine 10-15min every 60-90min to recharfe the 12volt car battery. But it keeps the laptop battery topped up no issues.

You will need to run some wire to the battery for the invertor to run at full capcity and even than you may lose some power through inefficiency . 450 watts can power most mid range pcs but 400 is pushing it and even if it does at start up it may neew a extra 100 watts to boot .
