Turn the truck on......You should always run the truck while pulling that much power from it.

How big a microwave do you have?

Also since this connected to the batteries make sure you have a fuse inline.

Make sure that your low batter warning alarm level is set correctly if it has that option. My came as set to default 13v, changed it to 11v and was good to go.

Also, make sure you have beffy enough wire feeding the inverter. Installed my with too small gauge wire and would go into shut down mode under load with a microwave until we replaced it with 2/0 cable.

Also make sure the inverter is sized properly for the output of the microwave.

Also, appliances will draw a higher initial load than once they are running. Check your max load on the inverter to see if it matches the spike.

A 2000 watt should more than handle just about any microwave. You probably just need thicker wire like ITS62 said, and make sure you have solid connections at the batteries (clean and TIGHT!) TA sells a Cobra Inverter "Installation kit" It has 4 gauge power wires and a thinner chassis ground wire, but it's a little pricey...about 50 bucks if i remember right. Mine is hooked up with their cables (1500 watt Cobra) and my microwave never makes it shut down. I have a 1400 watt microwave.

thats WAY over powering that inverter, you better watch out you dont burn that truck down!:biggrin_2558:

An inverter should be at LEAST twice if not 3 times the size of your biggest use.

Like my 700watt microwave and i have a 2000watt inverter

i use that 1500w install kit for my 800w invertor (to small for a 1500w) my 1500w is running on a set of 0 gauge with twin 50a fuses. i've ram a 1100w micro on a 1500w for 4 years and the only thing i had to do was start the truck when we were using it..

0/1 ga wire should be used for starters
    on a side note...my '800W' microwave uses 1150W.
The wattage rating is the cooking power OUTPUT, not power consumption
