Pam Transport does this too and their board is online. Only thing I see is a lot of bobtailing to next load.
Look to setup with Landstar and get "load out" trailers from plants.

You will also need extra insurance for trailers pulled, so to me it seemed easier to just buy a trailer and pull a few cheaper loads to get your foot in the door.

Stay away from USA Truck they are a joke freight is slow right now with them and it seems they have lost some major accounts. I spent 9 months with them and just left, many IC are having the same problem, They will try to keep you under 2500 miles or less.

Why would a company do that?

It works out pretty decent overall. A few hiccups. But overall over 90 days plenty of miles available and average around $1.65 to the truck. Not bad for power only as a start 2 aging authority

I just gave this a shot. I did 5 weeks and only generated $4500. Some of this was weather most was the dispatcher not knowing the lane. I'd drop a load in the morning and wait the next day for a reload or wait 2 to 3 days for a reload. The freight way heavy usually 44k in the box. I was told I would average 1.47 a mile loaded/empty I actually averaged .92. There were some 2.50 pm loads but it only went 100 miles then you get a 1000 mile load 44k for 1.20. They charge 2% for advance then 3% for quick pay and take more than 24% for the load. What they do is book the load from other brokers change the rate con to USAT logistics so you can't see the original rate. You only get $30 hr detention after 3 hrs and tonu just won't happen.

Another scam by a big company trying to shove off all their costs on the poor O/O. Hiding the real rate by passing it through the logistics dept. or brokerage is an old and dirty trick. Also, check on whether they are paying on actual (practical) miles or HHG (short miles). That adds up quick, too. Three free hrs (should be no more than 2) and $30 an hr. is a big insult. I never take less than $50 hr for vans. Did just take one home out of Ohio for $40 hr. but it paid better than anything else out there to get me right home and it was picking up a short distance away. DIdn't have to waste my time hunting for a load all day and dickering with those cheap ##* brokers.

I get 75% of the load & 100% of all extras & I average $0.49 per gallon discount at the pump on fuel. I also don't pay fuel tax expect at the pump. Oh yeah, I'm leased on to a carrier & don't have the extra costs/headaches of running my own authority.

I guess my deal isn't too bad.
