Wondering who is doing PO any more. We have been doing some dedicated lanes but most of the interest is coming from small fleet owners. Is JB Hunt still doing this (haven't had my weekly call in a while).

Buddy of mine just did some PO for JB less than a month ago.Don't know anyone else doing PO but sure they're out there
-
We have been doing dedicated lanes with small fleets and independents but I thought we would have a lot more jumping at it. And tried to see what JB was doing but couldn't find anything on current program and didn't want to get my name on a list with them. Once they get you they call enough to use up your unlimited minutes.
-
I heard JB was doing some PO in New England to cover the C&S account, they called my uncle a few times about it. I think Cowan does some as well, same account.
-
I had'nt heard from them in a while either, got an e-mail the other day wanting power only from Cincinnati,oh area to points south , Tn,Ky Sc, Nc, I think it was Home depot freight.
-
Now that you mention it, I haven't gotten calls or e-mails from JBH PO program for a while either, knock on wood. Although there's been a few e-mails come in with similar offers from other big carriers. A search of my trash folder finds just one from PTL. Seems like England or Knight may have sent something, just can't remember which one it was.
I think Knight called, but it was pushing their carrier services, namely fuel card program. Something like 10¢/gal off at fuel stops already inflated by 20¢. Didn't take much analysis to reach a "no" decision on that offer. -
JB stopped calling us about 2 months after we obtained our authority. I guess they got the message to stop calling after we started ignoring their calls :-/

I still get email from JB it is worth the time wasted to read for a chuckle. I did call on one offer they had but the gory details kept me away

I guess I need a definition for what is power only. I am leased to a "power only" carrier, Trailer Transit. We move empty and loaded trailers for any customer anywhere. We sometimes move regularly scheduled freight moves when an organization or carrier is short of drivers or tractors. Our company does not own any trailers, and our drivers never load or unload the contents of the trailers. but will be in attendance if needed, although that service is provided if requested at significant additional charges.
The mention above about JB Hunt using "power only" sounds like what I used to refer to as a "cartage" service. A carrier would move someone elses freight, either on their or the customers trailers and the driver routinely is present when the trailer is loaded or unloaded, and is expected to assist depending on the shipper and receiver requirements.
I guess the difference is whether or not the driver picks up and delivers freight, or in our case, drivers watching occasionally but never helping.
