Replaced power steering pump, hoses, lines, reservoir and gear box and still over heats. Was instructed to use oil instead of power steering fluid and told it wouldn't create that issue. All these things are new and still over heats. Any suggestions

If you changed out the reservoir, did it have an oil filter in there? And if there was, did you change that?
Rideandrepair and jamespmack Thank this. -
What is this on ? And every system has a filter as asked in the post above did you change the filter ?
I mean it sounds like you just started throwing parts at it
It very well might be you have a internal leak in the the steering cylinder its self which might cause the oil to over heat ..
More info would be helpfulRideandrepair Thanks this. -
Power steering cooler on the truck? Dirty?
@jamespmack mentioned a long time ago about a corroded ground cable causing the electrical system to ground using the hoses.Rideandrepair and jamespmack Thank this. -
Seen it on FL, melting High PSI hoses.

What kind of oil?
Not motor oil?
Use a good hydraulic or AT oil.Rideandrepair and Last Call Thank this. -
Synthetic atf I all I use in it.. Like 40 dollars a gallon at Napa. Each drop of that #### must be worth like quarter atleast. Don't spill any.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Most all the newer systems recommend using hydraulic oil
If its a older system I would stick with ATF myselfRideandrepair and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Rideandrepair and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

I've only ever seen engine oil or Dex 3 used in power steering.
Rideandrepair and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
