I have a 2007 VNL780 and it just started to make a slight vibration on the steering wheel when you let off the throttle and as soon as you touch the throttle it goes away, I think it's the power steering pump starting to go, when it idles at at stop you can feel the power steering whine/vibrate the steering wheel slightly and as soon as you touch the throttle it stops, there's no leaks and oil doesn't stink or anything, anyone have bad the same problem?? I'm guessing just replace the pump???
Power steering whine!

Should have a filter in the power steering reservoir. Remove old filter, flush system with new fluid, install new filter, check pump output pressure with guage.
CondoCruiser, Yellow Venom and Keyster Thank this. -
No it's not sluggish at all after you turn it off them on, I changed the steering shaft seal in it and bled it out like it said to do and it worked perfectly all week, then this started, will change filter and see if that works.

Yeah you should change the filter once a year, I had one disinegrate and plug all valves in the pump which was a little more expensive than a 20 dollar filter. Learning experience.

If you still have air it will show up in the reservoir. It sounds like the pump bearings are going. You have some time once it starts whining. It'll last at least another couple months then the seal will start leaking.

seems to me PS filter had never beeen changed... and PS pump is bad now
ZF PS pump and TRW steer box... am I right? -
Am not sure on the pump filter change, I just bought the truck 3 weeks ago, I will get a filter Thurs and change it.

usually PS pump goes bad with poor maintanance and must be replaced. Check steering box for internal leak in valve body (use TRW manual).
