I have a 2001 freightliner century and the driver side power window does not go down. The up and down switch seemed to have melted a bit on its circuits on its backside causing some smoke to come out if connected to the connector of the truck. So i used the passenger side up and down switch and I now I hear quick speedy clicks so I know it has contact. I narrowed it down to the Window module serial number KOA 98605079040.
I hear that clicking very fast as I hold down the power switch button and nothing goes down. Can that be the issue?

Is that a dealer item or can I get it seperately at a junk yard? thanks

Not sure if I’m comparing apples to apples, but with the Coronado’s I work on, I’ve found that the switches stick when rolling them up or down. Which could cause your smoke. Check the part numbers on the side of your switches, if they don’t match, then you can’t intermix them. Finally, if you’ve had one stick it usually over heats the window motor and can cause the brushes in it to stick. We used to tear the door apart to get to the motor, a good swift tap and they would go to working. Usually about as long as a new motor (which was ironically the same time it would take the switches to start sticking again...). Now, one Sturn hit with a soft faced dead blow to the center of the bottom inside of the door, unsticks the brushes and they go to working.

But if your switch feels soft it’s done. time for a new one.
