I am the daughter of a driver who recently died while working for Covenant trucking company. My father died while parked, most likely in his sleep for reasons unknown at this time. My father was religious and he was working for a company that is self proclaimed to be faith based.. as you can read this in thier opening statement on thier company website. When I contacted the company about my father's passing, I found them to be very cold and matter of fact. I asked them to send me my fathers things, and they did, but not before mentioning that they were sent the cheapest way possible and couldn't even provide me with a tracking number to track the last things my father had around him when he died. It looked as if they used boxes found out of a garbage heap. They just threw my dad's things randomly in torn up boxes without reguard to his expensive electronic equiptment which was found on the bottom of a 75lb box!!! This faith based company had no respect for a bible which was crammed in box mixed with dirty clothes and various crumbled up papers. The company barely taped the boxes, never mind taping up the numerous holes through out the boxes where his personal things leaked out. The U.P.S. man commented that he never saw such poorly packed boxes and couldn't believe that U.P.S. accepted them to be delivered! When I told him that the boxes were the personal effects of my father who just passed away while working for Covenant trucking and how they are supposed to be this faith based company, he shook his head in disbelief!!! It took me a long time to go through all the boxes. There are things missing, and one of my father's diamond earrings just somehow was missing from his ear by the time he made it to the coroner's office. The truck company is not being cooperative about helping establish a timeline to help me better understand how and when my father actually died. When My family asked normal questions, they were given round about answers and directed to covenants legal dept. This is what makes me wonder what they are trying to hide??? So if there is one thing to be learned from this experiance its not to die while working fro this company. They did not even have the decency to send a letter of condolance, but sure had no problem being difficult, cold, and vague!!!! Show me where that type of behavior is commended in the bible, that this company supposivly bases thier principles on?!?!?!? As the bible says.... you reap what you sow..... can't wait for these fine people to meet thier maker!!!!
Sincerly one mourning daughter!!!!

Very sorry for your loss. Whether the company is "supposed" to be faith based or not ...that was NO WAY to treat the personal effects of a departed employee or treat that persons family. Shame on them

Sorry for your loss. When I was OTR it was always my prayer if it was my time that I would be in the sleeper and go alone instead of taking people with me. Beings your dad was a driver there is a thread for remembering drivers. Here is the thread if you would like to add his name. Drivers are a different breed of people. It would be an honor to your father if you want to add his name. I know this is not much to give you other than it sounds like he was in the sleeper and went peacefully. God Bless!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Drivers are nothing but a number to a company. They can pretend they care about you but they don't. You have to be human to show compassion. The driver that recovered the truck probably had sticky fingers. Then it most likely went to the terminal and someone in the Covenant shop was given the task of cleaning the truck out. Most likely, he grabbed the nearest box out of the dumpster.
I seen our company throw everything on a pallet, shrink wrap it and send it on it's way to the driver they fired.
One company I worked for had a driver complaining of not feeling good. He wanted to go to the hospital. They begged him to run a hot load to Houston from Tennessee. It had to get there. He got the load there. They found him dead from a heart attack three days later in a truck stop. The owner trying to free his conscious, bought the wife and two kids a months worth of groceries.
Covenant are nothing but hypocrites when they hide behind the cloth for profit. Your father is resting in peace. I hope you and your family can come to terms with this and find answers. Time will help ease the pain.gdyupgal and mourning daughter Thank this. -
I pray the Grandmothers bring you comfort in your time of loss and grief.
